2003 Great American Duck Logo/Theme announced

(Deming)-- The Great American Duck Race Board has decided on this
year's logo and theme. The logo salutes "Heroes of America", not only 
those in the military but also patriotic Americans fighting terrorism in 
occupations such as firemen, policemen, rescue personnel, doctors 
and nurses. The theme is used in judging both the Duck Royalty 
Pageants and the Tournament of Ducks Parade. The logo features 
another Bill McKinley duck taken from the archives. McKinley was the 
original "duck race artist" and one of the original organizers of the race. 
He passed away in 1998. The duck was then given a striped shirt, 
and the American Flag was added. Since we have water and land races, 
we left the waves and desert. The inner logo is surrounded by 50 stars, 
however some are obscured by the flag itself. The whole logo sets 
on military type dog tags. Many thanks for his work go to John Connell 
at We Do Graphic of Deming. The logo will be used on brochures, 
advertising, and our very popular duck race t-shirts, available for 
sale soon.

   The Great American Duck Race is an annual festival, 
now in its 24th year.  Our race is different than many 
in that we race LIVE ducks.
