(Deming)--This year two local businesses have stepped up to the plate to support 
the 26th Annual Great American Duck Race with Corporate Sponsorships.
   PNM and the Luna Energy Facility and Border Foods have both pledged $5,000 to 
this year's Duck Race.
   "It is through the generous support of these Corporate Sponsors that we are
able to put on an event of this magnitude" said Dave Johnson, Vice President of the 
Duck Race Committee.  "We appreciate every sponsor, and thank them all" added Johnson.

   Major sponsors help foot the bill for such items as liability insurance,
advertising, purchasing merchandise for retail, and paying the many donations made
to local groups for assisting with various aspect of the Duck Race.   
   The Great American Duck race is an annual festival the fourth weekend in August.  
Besides the Hot Air Balloons, other events include The Duck Royalty Pageant, Comcast 
Tournament of Ducks Parade, Green Chile Cookoff, Tortilla Toss, Belt Buckle raffle, 
dances, Poker Run, Outhouse Race, entertainment, and live duck races on both a wet 
and dry track.
