GADR Logo and Theme Announced For Immediate Release 6/8/11 Contact: Dave Johnson Publicity Quacker (575) 694-4873 dave@demingduckrace.com (Deming)--This year theme for the 32nd Annual Great American Duck Race is "Super Heroes". For the third year, this year's logo was created by Jesse Kriegel, an art teacher at Deming High School. Kriegel was born outside of El Paso, and moved to Deming as a freshman in High School. He is married to his wife, Liz, and they have two sons, ages two and five years. Kriegel also sketched the "Elvis" duck in 2009 with the "Rock N Roll" theme, and the "Pirate" duck last year. This year's duck race logo features a trio of Super Hero Ducks, Superduck, Batduck and Spiderduck. The logo takes on a comic book cover look, and since it is a book, instead of 32nd annual, it displays "Volume 32". Since Superduck stands for "truth, justice and the American way", the logo proudly features an American Flag background. Final creative work, including the actual layout, was done by Gabe Dominguez. The Super Heroes theme will be used for judging in both the Duck Royalty Pageant Thursday night, and the Tournament of Ducks Parade Saturday morning. The Great American Duck Race will be held Thursday, August 25th through Sunday, August 28th. Most events are at Luna County Courthouse Park. Duck Racing is Saturday and Sunday only.
